Wanting to modernize, but held back by outdated tech
Eddie’s mission to modernize the selection at Ysleta Beer, Wine, & Spirits had one major hurdle: a nonexistent point of sale system. For nearly 50 years, the store ran entirely on manual inventory tracking, an ancient cash register, and a separate card reader to process card payments.

“One of the big things that I was looking for in a POS system, beyond transitioning from a regular old-fashioned cash register, was inventory control. I needed a system that could keep track, not just of the inventory, but label items and track what was being sold.”
In-depth research. Many demos.
One unlikely helper.
Eddie might’ve been new to the liquor business, but he knew a standard POS system couldn’t handle the changes he wanted to make.
He started his search in industry magazines and on Google. He also talked with various POS providers and booked demos. Wherever he looked, Bottle POS showed up. Not only did Bottle POS frequently appear in search results, it was used by other liquor store owners in El Paso.
In the end, it was one of Eddie’s competitors who convinced him that Bottle POS was the right system for Ysleta Beer, Wine & Spirits. The other store owner was kind enough to let Eddie behind the counter to see what Bottle POS can do in a real store environment.
Eddie was impressed. It had all the features he needed and more.
“When I get involved in a new industry, I really become a big nerd. I subscribe to all the industry magazines, the newsletters, and I do a lot of research on my own. In all of that research, Bottle POS kept popping up. Also, many of the other liquor store owners in the area are using Bottle POS.”

Building a modern back office from scratch
Eddie knew Bottle POS could make a big impact on the business. But first, he had to build a digital inventory list from the ground up. Luckily, the Bottle POS onboarding team made the process as painless as possible.
Since there was no existing CSV or Excel file to import, they used Bottle POS on mobile to scan UPCs and populate accurate inventory data automatically. After the inventory was logged, Eddie also decided to ditch the separate payment processor and use Bottle’s integrated payments instead.
While there was an initial learning curve to get the staff comfortable with the new system, Eddie says that they’ve come to love the features on Bottle POS as much as he has.
“One of the major improvements in the store from Bottle POS is the integration of payments into the system. It’s not a separate piece of hardware with a separate reporting system. I have a holistic system where the credit cards and POS are the same.”

Higher sales, deeper product insights, and a better customer experience
Since implementing Bottle POS, nearly every aspect of Ysleta Beer, Wine & Spirits changed for the better. Customers appreciate how much easier it is to pay using the card reader — no more inputting totals separately. Eddie also loves having a holistic view of his finances and inventory, a massive improvement from manually reconciling payments and sales on the register.
Fully categorizing the store’s inventory didn’t just make it easier to track — it gave Eddie an easy way to look at his product mix and store operations. Using Bottle POS’ reports, Eddie can track new product performance, dead stock, category sales, and other key metrics.
Since adopting Bottle POS in 2025, Eddie also added a customer loyalty program and an e-commerce store to take his business even further.
