How generic POS systems caused trouble for Orange Wine & Spirits
From 2023, Dhaval used Clover to run the store. The lower price point and sleek software were appealing at first, but it wasn’t long before problems arose.
To handle routine tasks like breaking down cases in inventory or ID scanning, he had to use clunky workarounds or pay for add-ons. Suddenly, the monthly fees of a “low-cost” system were adding up.
Clover’s reporting was also lacking. The basic sales reports didn’t give Dhaval a clear picture of what was popular or help him avoid unnecessary reorders.

In late 2025, Dhaval decided it was time for a change. He looked for systems specifically built for liquor retail and ultimately decided on Bottle POS.
Onboarding and system setup were painless, with new hardware arriving within a day and inventory onboarding taking only 15 minutes. While he was initially worried a Windows-based system might lag, Bottle POS has worked faster than he expected.

“There are POS systems like Square and Clover that give you intuitive software and decent merchant processing rates, but sometimes you have to see if it’s a good fit for liquor stores. Sometimes those POS systems can only do basic stuff.”
Making store operations run smoothly with a specialty POS solution
Since switching to Bottle POS in December 2025, Dhaval hasn’t looked back. Built-in ID scanning and integrated payments keep checkout moving — and Bottle’s extensive inventory support makes it easy to track his entire stock, including any variants like six-packs and cases.
When issues or questions come up, the Bottle POS support team has been quick to help.
“I’ve been extremely satisfied with Bottle POS. It took maybe 10 or 15 minutes for the initial onboarding. After that, if I have questions, they’ve always been efficient at getting me an answer. Overall, it’s great service.”

Connecting with DoorDash for a huge sales boost
Not only does Bottle POS help Dhaval keep more cash on hand and monitor trends, it also leads to significant revenue gains.
Dhaval connected Clover to DoorDash for online orders, but the integration was limited and couldn’t display his full stock. For a shop that prides themselves on a great selection, this was a letdown, leading to cancellations and people not using the service as much overall.
Bottle POS’ robust DoorDash integration allowed Dhaval to accurately list his entire stock online, resulting in a massive sales boost. Comparing sales between May 2026 and just a year earlier, Dhaval saw:
63%
boost in sales
97%
fewer order cancellations
12%
increase in average order value
Even with separate e-commerce prices to make up for service fees, customers don’t seem to mind. In fact, he says the average ticket size for an online order is roughly twice that of a typical in-store purchase.
Online sales have made such a big impact that Orange Wine & Spirits plans to integrate more services in the future.
Just a few months after adopting it, he started encouraging other stores in the area to switch to Bottle POS.
Using Bottle POS reports to maintain cash flow and spot trends
Orange Wine & Spirits carries over 2,300 unique items. With so many products, it was difficult to manually keep track of what was selling and what was collecting dust.
Now, with Bottle POS, he uses the category reports and auto ranking features to track bestsellers and check on dead stock. By checking these about once a week, it helps him find ideal reorder points based on when specific products sell.

For a shop that thrives on spotting new trends, the added layer of visibility is a huge improvement and helps him decide what’s worth reordering. “You have to look at your numbers and ask your customers, because even something with a big name won’t always be the best seller,” Dhaval explains.
“With Clover, you can see what’s selling per day or per month, but it doesn’t give you an idea of what actually sold or which of your products are selling the least.”
Moving confidently into the future
After a year where many retailers saw a dip in sales, Orange Wine & Spirits is thriving. In the short term, Dhaval is eager to see how the sales and product tracking data in Bottle POS will help him improve his seasonal forecasting and overall ordering strategy.
But his biggest goals for the future are to find ways to boost basket size and bring more customers into the store.
With Massachusetts’ stricter liquor advertising and pricing regulations, this isn’t always easy. For now, he’s continuing to talk with his sales reps and customers to maintain the varied selection the store is known for. He’s also considering different advertising strategies like social media and text message marketing to showcase new products.
